NOT a Mandate

Sorry, kids, but Bush does NOT have a mandate.

In addition to widely-suspected vote fraud that's being investigated by numerous progressive organizations, ( and others... please donate to them), it's important to remember that Bush "won" by the slimmest margin for a sitting president since 1916.

That's not a fucking mandate.

Don't let anyone tell you it is.

And, as Al Franken said, don't forget that while the so-called "red states" LOOKS like a large area, a whole helluva lot of it is desert.

So Bush's constituents are mostly, say, salamanders.

Remember that.

I'm not stupid - the negative campaining on BOTH sides made this election a choice of two evils. Many people (some people would even say the majority) that voted for Bush because they didn't like Kerry, not because they supported Bush. People who didn't want Bush in office decided to vote for Kerry, and VERY FEW voted for Nader - knowing that a vote for Nader could tip the scale like in 2000. That's why Nader's vote was in the noise.

The Left and Centrists (like me) have the hair on the back of their neck curl up when Bush claims that he has a mandate. Mandate? Then why is Bush's popularity rating at historic LOWS?

The only way to prove that this Mandate is unfounded is to protest this claim. To PROTEST in a big way, in DC and all state capitals, coordinated to occur at the same date. Get as many people to show up around the country.

That is the only way to show George Bush's mandate is an oxymoron.

We need to do is pick a date - and show up.

Interesting how they spin the "he got more votes than any president ever" thing...since more votes only meant a) higher turnout and b) more people in general. No one is really newsing up the slimmest margin of a sitting president. Or the fact that the electoral college, while not as narrow as 2000, was only one state away from electing Kerry. They make it sound like a trouncing, when it was a win by the skin of his teeth (granted a little more skin than 2000, but still a narrow victory). I'm looking forward to seeing the reactions of those who unthinkingly voted "morals" in another four years when Bush and Co. manage to screw it up even worse.
